Amish Vanilla Pie

directions |
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup karo
3/4 TBSP flour
1 1/2 cup water
1 egg
3/4 tea vanilla
Crumbs
1 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tea baking soda
1/2 tea cream of tartar
1/4 cup shortening
|
Blend last 5 ingredients and set aside for crumbs. In a saucepan mix the 1st 6 ingrediens and bring to a boil. Let cool. Blace in boiled unbaked pie shell. Place crumbs over top and press down slightly.
Bake about 20 minutes with 1/2 the crumbs on top. Place remaining crumbs on top and bake for 20-25 minutes longer in 350 degree oven.
